  Southwestern United States
Posted by: erik - 08-18-2017, 12:00 AM - Forum: Southwest - No Replies

The Southwest is a region in the lower western side of the United States which encompasses a variety of states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

These states may have widely different cultures, climates, demographics, income levels, politics, and even personalities and accents. Nonetheless these states are all grouped together in the same general region of the United States. The climate is overall a hot, dry arid climate. While there are technically four seasons, winter doesn't really happen in most of the coastal southwest, especially in coastal southern California which is the only Mediterranean climate found in the United States. Arizona tends to be a dry arid desert climate, while Colorado and surrounding can be more of a mountainous climate with cold winters like the Midwest. Hawaii, on the other hand, being an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, is very warm and completely different in every respect than the rest of the contiguous United States.

Three articles I've found (2) from today regarding effects to CT economy consequently (whether it is intentional or not) of sequestration. I understand this is not just in CT, but truthfully I'm from CT which is impacting us all together.

The final line in this specific article is exactly what caught my attention.
